the
status of children across
New York state.
Across every generation and culture, grandparents, other relatives, and close family friends have stepped forward to raise children whose parents can no longer care for them. This time-honored tradition is known as kinship care.
In a new policy report, The Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT summarizes what the field knows about kinship care, lifts up the problems and issues these families face, and recommends how to best support caregivers as they step up to take responsibility for children in their extended families and communities. Read the report, and share Casey's recommendations and data with your own networks, when it is released on May 23, 2012.
