1. What is a KWIC region profile?
A region profile provides a table of all of the indicators
organized by life areas for a selected region. KWIC data are
accessible for 65 regions: New York State, New York City,
Rest of State (NYS minus NYC) and 62 counties. The most current
time period available and an arbitrary comparison year are
displayed along with the New York State rate.
2. Can the displayed years in a
region profile be changed?
Yes, the user has the ability to change the time periods
for both comparison years.
3. What is a KWIC indicator profile?
An indicator profile provides a table of all regions for
a selected indicator. KWIC displays data for 65 regions: New
York State, New York City, Rest of State (NYS minus NYC) and
62 counties.
4. What is a KWIC custom profile?

their custom profiles in order to access the formatted report
in the future.
7. What are some benefits of using
My KWIC?
My KWIC is tailored to the users specific data needs. Here
are two considerations: as new data become available, the
saved profile can be updated; and for a presentation with
Internet access, the user can go to My KWIC and access tables
that have already been generated.
8. Do all indicators span the same
time periods?
No, all indicators do not span the same time periods. This
is especially noticeable for the most current year available.
9. What happens when a user selects
indicators in a custom profile that to do not have the same
time periods?
The time periods available to the user in a custom profile
include the full span of years for the indicators selected.
If data are not available for a particular indicator for a
particular year, an N/A is displayed.
10. Are data available for all
of the regions?
For the majority of indicators data are available for all
regions. If data are not available, an N/A is displayed.
11. What other data sources supplement
the KWIC data?
KWIC provides demographic data from the U.S. Census for each
county and region of New York State to help users understand
the characteristics of the people behind the data. Demographic
data accompany the KWIC region profile and are accessible
in Access Data.
