A Region Profile
provides a table of indicators that share a common theme
or topic for a selected region, called a Topical Profile.
Each Topical Profile is available for 65 regions: New York
State, New York City, Rest of State (NYS minus NYC) and
each of New York State's 62 counties. The most current data
available and an arbitrary comparison year data are displayed
along with the New York State rate. As the number of indicators
continues to grow, the number of profiles will also grow.
Indicators are organized and displayed by Touchstones' six
major life areas. With the recent addition of child welfare
and maternal/child health data, there are now 4 types
of profiles:
- The KWIC Profile - The KWIC Profile provides a snapshot of the overall health, education and well-being of children, youth and families in New York State. This is the default profile.
- The Child Welfare Profile - The Child Welfare Profile provides a descriptive portrait of children and youth in the child welfare and court systems and is the first step in presenting child-focused, child welfare data in New York State.
- The Maternal/Infant Profile - The Maternal/Infant Profile provides a snapshot of the health and well-being of mother and child, including pregnancy, birth, prenatal care, birth weight and gestation, and infant mortality data.
- The Juvenile Justice Profile - The Juvenile Justice Profile provides a descriptive portrait of children and youth in the juvenile justice systems, including the courts, detention, and preventive systems in New York State.
Topical Profiles are accessible on the Access
Data page. Select Access Data on
the navigation bar and select Region Profile. On the Region
Profile page, first select the type of profile followed by
the region of interest. Once a profile has been generated,
it is possible to select another profile, another region,
or another profile and another region. From the home page,
the default KWIC Profile is accessible from the dropdown
option of "Select KWIC profile by region."
